Something Is Always Better Than Nothing

Ever have one of those moments where inspiration hits at the absolute worst possible time?
Suddenly you have an entire blog post basically writing itself in your head, except you're at work, driving, showering, trying to sleep, whatever. Then the second you actually have time to sit down and write it?
Gone.
Not even a crumb left.
I've started no less than three blog posts since last week and every single one of them is currently rotting away in my drafts folder. So instead of waiting around for one of them to magically become interesting again, we're just gonna see what comes out.
Because honestly?
Something is always better than nothing.
Dear Diary,
You know what's great? Games with friends.
You know what's also great? Disappearing into a game completely by yourself and suddenly realizing it has eaten every free second you've had for the last week.
Every few years, I somehow end up back in Overwatch.
It doesn't matter how many patches happen or how many characters get reworked to the point where I barely recognize them anymore. Looking at you, Bastion. Eventually I come crawling back.
I'm an OG Overwatch player too. I was there when Mercy could instantly resurrect basically an entire team. Five-man rez Mercy was a different beast. Teams had six players. Everything was chaos.
Beautiful chaos.
And I'm not usually someone who likes to sit here and brag about being good at something, but Mercy?
I'm fucking good at Mercy.
It might genuinely be one of the only things I will confidently toot my own horn about. I could stop playing Overwatch for three years, come back completely rusty, grab Mercy and somehow my brain immediately remembers exactly what it's doing.
Maybe it's the ADHD. Maybe years of playing her permanently rewired something in my brain. Who knows.
My brain is basically running twelve tabs at any given time anyway, so Mercy kind of makes sense for me. Overwatch is already ridiculously fast-paced, and playing support means constantly keeping track of everybody at once.
Who's dying?
Who thinks they can 1v5 the enemy team?
Who just ran around a corner and somehow expects me to follow them into certain death?
Who needs healing even though they are missing approximately four HP?
Because yes, I noticed.
Mercy's whole zip-around-the-map-healing-everyone thing scratches something in my brain perfectly. I physically cannot stand seeing someone's health bar missing even the tiniest little chunk.
Everyone must be FULL.
I don't make the rules.
Anyway, this very serious discussion about my elite Mercy skills is getting cut short because I have a friend coming over who I haven't seen in almost two years, and apparently I should probably stop playing Overwatch and make my house look like humans live here.
So this weird little impromptu diary entry is the blog post for the week.
And you know what?
I'm actually proud of myself for posting it.
Because something really is always better than nothing.
Doing something badly is still doing something. And that's how you get better.
Talk soon, Kass ☕🌿
